Welcome

DBSA New Jersey is a state chapter of national DBSA and a networking organization of DBSA Support Groups in New Jersey. These groups provide education, support, outreach and advocacy for people living with mood disorders in New Jersey.

Our mission is to improve the lives of people living with mood disorders by:

• nurturing the development of mood disorder support groups and  providing mutual support and networking;

• educating residents about the nature of mood disorders as treatable medical illnesses;

• improving access to mental health services and increasing awareness about mental health issues; and

• acting as a link between the DBSA national office and its affiliated chapters and local support groups in New Jersey

NEW SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS

Richard Hall Community Mental Health Center
Bridgewater NJ

In cooperation with Richard Hall we have started a DBSA support group meeting at their location. Our first meeting on April 25, 2012 was well attended and included an excellent core of experienced DBSA participants. The group is meeting on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM - 8:45 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room on the first floor. After entering the building, check in with reception, then walk though the children's waiting area and procede through the door to the hallway. Turn right and walk to the end. The Multi-Purpose room will be on your right. The street address for Richard Hall is 500 North Bridge St, Bridgewater, NJ. Enter the parking lot from Vogt Drive per their directions. A new chapter, DBSA Somerset County, has been formed to run this meeting and the meeting that we have held in Belle Mead since October 20, 2011.

Jackson Township Senior Center

We have started a daytime support group in Jackson Township which the township Senior Center has generously agreed to host. Our first meeting on May 10, 2012 was a great success. Our meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM in the center's Pool (billiards) Room. This meeting is being overseen by DBSA Ocean County.

Sixth Annual Conference 2012

Our Sixth Annual Comference was held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. Presentations and handouts from the conference are on our conference resource page.

Fourth Annual Conference 2010

DBSA New Jersey held our fourth Annual Spring Conference on May 8, 2010 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. We started with a moving remembrance about Naomi Sims by her friend and neighbor, Jay Cobb, followed by our educational presentations.
